Sunstone Mastiffs
Type, temperament, health.
Type, temperament, health.
What does this mean?
I believe in breeding for true Mastiff type, which means, you should be able to look at the silouhette of the dog and immediately recognize it as a Mastiff. In the case of our Mastiffs, this means a huge dog who is well put together, muscular, sound, with a magnificent head and plenty of bone.

Considering the size of the Mastiff, temperament is everything! You cannot have a 200 pound dog with a bad temperament, a Mastiff should NEVER, EVER be aggressive, he may be aloof, he may be reserved, quite often, he may be silly but NEVER aggressive.

Health . . . while many are screaming health testing from the roof tops I prefer to take a wait and see approach. This does not mean that I do not believe in health testing, it has its place but I prefer to examine the dog in front of me, in his later years and I've been blessed with the opportunity to do so. One of my main breeding goals is longevity. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many health tests a breeder performs on their dogs if the dogs drop dead at 5 or 6 years old.
Sunstone Mastiffs was established in 2005 in California and since then, we've moved to Colorado, to a huge spread on 40 acres where we have room to breathe!
